Description of Opportunities Explorers assist Police Department and other city organizations during public events, festivals, fundraisers, etc.

Dress Required: Full uniform is provided and required

Training/Orientation: Explorers meet every other Wednesday during the school months and continue to receive training on an on-going basis. (NOTE: They do not receive community service hours for attending meetings which is mandatory to be in the program.)

  • Additional Information: *The Explorer Program has a participation capacity of 30 students therefore, the number accepted into the program each year can vary. Program requirements are rigorous and candidates must maintain a 2.0 grade average, have no criminal police record, be in good physical shape and health, have a general interest in Law Enforcement, have good moral character, be available to attend all meetings and events and have parent approval. Application process includes written application, short essay, oral interview and background checks.
