The College Board has developed the AP Equity and Excellence Index (APEEI), to measure the strength of high schools' Advanced Placement programs. The APEEI places an emphasis upon both equity (having more students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses) and excellence (scoring well on the Advanced Placement Exams).

Specifically, the APEEI measures the percentage of students in a grade (or in a high school career upon graduation) who achieved a passing score of 3, 4, or 5 on an Advanced Placement Exam.
