Support the Troops
Freedom High School has sent holiday wishes to the troops through the "Holiday for Heroes" program, sponsored by the American Red Cross. Students and teachers wrote messages of thanks and encouragement for our troops stationed overseas. The Freedom Service Squad organized a banner signing for two FHS grads who are in the military and now stationed in Afghanistan. In addition to the 20 foot banner, Freedom shirts and snack foods were sent to Pvt. Andrew Bilheimer and 2nd Lt. Robert Griffith. We are proud of all of our troops and wish them a happy holiday and safe return home.

Canned Food Drive
A big thank you to Liberty High School for all of the donations collected for Second Harvest member agency West Side Food Bank. We collected 70 grocery bags full! The Food Bank personnel were very grateful, especially since there is a great need in our community. They said this was the largest collection ever. We could not have done this without the help of students Phillip Livingston, Katelynn Guranich, and Katrina Danyluk. Thanks again to everyone who participated.

Independent Projects
Students are always encouraged to complete Independent Projects for their community service activities. These projects are student generated and should benefit an individual, group, or organization. However, it is important to follow the established procedure in order to ensure that credit will be given for all of your volunteer hours. Be sure to obtain a copy of the Independent Project Guidelines, available in your Student Service Center, and submit the completed proposal BEFORE beginning your service. Your project will be evaluated by the Community Service Coordinator, and if it is approved, you are ready to begin.
