Applying for an Administrative Position at Bethlehem Area School District

Applying for a Teaching Position at Bethlehem Area School District

Thank you for your interest in the Bethlehem Area School District. To apply for a teaching position, candidates must submit their application online via PAreap.net. PAreap.net is a clearinghouses of applicants wishing to teach in the Commonwealth of Pennsyslvania.

The Bethlehem Area School District does not accept hard copy applications or materials.

All applicants must have a file online at PAreap.net. THIS SERVICE IS FREE.

Those individuals who wish to be considered an active candidate for a teaching position with the Bethlehem Area School District will need to forward the following information to PAreap.net :

  1. Complete application on-line at PAreap.net
  2. Photocopy of your Pennsylvania Certificate
  3. A complete transcript of your academic achievement
  4. Current Act 34 Clearance (Report of Criminal History Record - Apply Online)
  5. Current Act 151 Child Abuse History Clearance - Apply Online
  6. Current Act 114 (Federal Criminal History - Apply Online) * NOTE: You need to register thru the Department of Education
  7. Three letters of reference
  8. Praxis scores
  9. Post recommendation drug testing

Please note that if you are selected for an interview for a contracted position you will be required to submit all original documents and a current health record which includes a physical and TB test confirmation within the previous 12 months from your hire date.


How to Apply to Substitute in Bethlehem Area School District

Bethlehem Area School District uses Substitute Teacher Service (STS) to provide substitute teachers for its schools. In order to substitute within the Bethlehem Area School District, you must be registered with STS if you are certified to teach.

  • Go to www.thesubservice.com
  • You will see a red arrow pointing to, "Tell Me More"
  • Click on "Tell Me More"
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page, click on "Apply On-line by clicking here!"
  • Click on "PA Substitute Teacher"
  • A list will appear indicating required information. Please Note: Paper letters of recommendation are no longer required. The on-line application process requires 3 references with active email addresses.
  • After reviewing the information, go to the upper right-hand side of page and click on "Apply Now."

Once you have completed the required components of the on-line application process, the STS Representative assigned to the Bethlehem Area School District will contact you. At that time, an appointment will be set up for you to complete the next step of the application process.

Guest Teacher Program through STS

Bethlehem Area School District uses substitute teachers through Substitute Teacher Service (STS). One of the ways to become a substitute is through the STS Guest Teacher Program. The program allows individuals who have a four (4) year degree to take an online training program that will prepare them for teaching in the classroom as a day-to-day substitute. To learn more:

Guest Teacher Program through IU20

The Colonial Intermediate Unit will be hosting a Substitute Teacher Training program for individuals with Bachelor's Degrees to become daily substitute teachers. The Bethlehem Area School District will be one of several participating districts seeking trained individuals to serve as substitute teachers for the coming school year. Applying for a Nonteaching/Support Position at Bethlehem Area School District

Thank you for your interest in the Bethlehem Area School District. To apply for a position, candidates must submit a completed application. To make application, go to the left column of this page and click on "Download Forms" to print out the Noninstructional District Employment Application and accompanying forms. There are nine steps to ensure your application is complete.

  1. Complete Noninstructional District Employment Application
  2. Complete and forward with enclosed $8.00 Money Order only the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (English or Spanish). You may also apply online.
  3. Complete and forward with enclosed $8.00 Certified Check/Money Order only the Request for Criminal Record Check. You may also apply online.
  4. Current Act 114 (Federal Criminal History - Apply Online) * NOTE: You need to register through the Department of Education
  5. Download and complete a Declaration of Relationship with Current Employees and Officials form.
  6. Post recommendation drug testing.
